Description: This article attempted to conceptualize the meaning and model of creativity in young children through critical review of existing literature in the field. Capitalizing on this conceptualization, it then spelt out suggested strategies and action points for enhancing development of creativity in early childhood settings. It was generally underscored that highly prescriptive and structured ECE provisions would conspire against young children’s creativity, and therefore, needs to be optimally balanced with unstructured, child-enabling, inclusive, and thought- provoking approaches.
