Together for Early Childhood Evidence is an initiative funded by USAID and supported by the ECD Measure Group at University of Nebraska Medical Center to accelerate progress toward data-driven early childhood education systems in sub-Saharan Africa. Together for Early Childhood Evidence convenes government officials, researchers and other stakeholders interested in pre-primary data and measurement in Ethiopia.  The following institutions are part of the Together for Early Childhood Evidence Task Force team in Ethiopia. contact Frehiwot Wubishet (Focal Point) at fwubishet@usaid.gov 

“USAID’s portfolio in Ethiopia is one of the largest and most complex in Africa. Our assistance is an investment to build Ethiopia’s self-reliance by increasing economic growth, delivering essential public health and education services, and promoting a governance environment conducive to sustainable economic development.

Whiz Kids Workshop was established in a living room by a husband-and-wife team in 2005. We produce educational materials, including the internationally acclaimed children’s television show Tsehai Loves Learning, which are entertaining and economically self-sustainable. Topics range from health education to character building to literacy.

Addis Ababa University (AAU), which was established in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa (UCAA), is the oldest and the largest higher learning and research institution in Ethiopia. Since its inception, the University has been the leading center in teaching-learning, research and community services.

The Ethiopian School Readiness Initiative provides a comprehensive, high quality pre-school program which gives the disadvantaged children of Ethiopia a chance to succeed at school and provides income generation training and programs for mothers.

ECD Measure supports professionals, governments, non-profit organizations and researchers with tools, resources and connections to use data towards quality early childhood care and education for all children.  The organization is made up of researchers and policy experts who have expertise in creating and validating measurement tools and building capacity in early childhood education and development systems.   In 2018, the ECD Measure Group partnered with USAID to create Together for Early Childhood Evidence: Consortium for Pre-Primary Data and Measurement in Africa (CPDMA).   Through Together for Early Childhood Evidence, ECD Measure supports Task Force teams in sub-Saharan Africa, including Ethiopia, to accelerate progress toward data-driven early childhood education systems
