    Abstract: The goal of the report was to advocate for actions that must be taken to minimize the immediate and long-term effects, stop the backslide, and put in place a gender-sensitive response to COVID-19 that recognizes girls' unique vulnerability and aims to address it through integrated interventions that include livelihood, protection, social services, and information in African countries.
    Description: This description serves as a companion piece to the full report, "The African Report on Child Wellbeing 2020: How Girls-Friendly Are African Governments?" by investigating the plight of girls during the pandemic It was hoped that I am advocates for gender and child rights, policymakers, and practitioners in the economic and social services sectors, as well as the health sector, would find this background paper useful in developing strategies that address the unique needs and vulnerabilities of all African girls. It is also meant to aid efforts to mobilize resources and take action in this direction.
